Pumpkins!

Today we had the pumpkin patch at school.  Students who brought money could buy pumpkins costing from $1 to $5.  The ones for $1 were really small.  The ones for $5 were really big.

  2. It looks like you had a lot of fun. Did you think that the pumpkin man was going to be a pumpkin or a normal person?

  4. Fall is in the air! If people want to eat pumpkin seeds they can:
scrape the seeds out of the pumpkin
    Wash them off
    Place them on a pan
    Sprinkle them with seasoning salt
Bake them till they are crisp
    Eat
    :)

  5. We got the idea of the carved pumpkin (Jack-o-Lanterns) from our English and Irish ancestors. In those countries, people carved potatoes and turnips and set a light inside them to set outside. When the English and Irish got to America, they found out that the larger pumpkin was even better for making Jack O'Lanterns.

    Happy Halloween,

  6. Dear Ms. Bishop-
Some of us thought that the Pumpkin Man was going to be a pumpkin and some of us thought that it was going to be a human.

  8. Dear Mrs. Winters,
Our class plans to use it for a character in our pumpkin story, use it to eat the seeds and carve it to make a jack-o-lantern.

  9. Dear Mrs. Bishop,

Some of us thought it was going to be a pumpkin but no pumpkin is a human, so we should have thought it would be a human. It had to be a human because only a human could grow pumpkins and sell them to us to take home.

  13. Dear Ms. Bishop,
Some of us thought the pumpkin man was going to be dressed up like a pumpkin and some of us thought it was going to be a normal person. It turned out to be a normal person.

The pumpkins are so cool. Did you do anything with them in school? It would be neat to be able to plant some of the seeds and watch them grow at school.
