Butterflies!!!

Along with mealworms that turned into beetles, we had caterpillars turned into butterflies in our classes.  We enjoyed watching them go through the stages of their life cycle.  Today we told them good-bye and let them go outside.

Our butterflies stayed in a net cage.
The butterfly's inside wings were interesting.

Mrs. M. lifted up the net to make sure the butterflies could get out.

Good-bye, butterflies.  We loved having you in class.

  2. Butterflies are beautiful and fun to watch! They are also very helpful, in nature, where they pollinate plants just the same as bees do. Each species of Butterflies will only lay eggs on one or two "host" plants. Your Monarch butterfly will only lay eggs on a Milkweed plant. To attract butterflies to your garden or yard, you can plant milkweed seeds. The butterflies will lay their eggs there, and the larvae will eat the milkweed plants as they grow.

Great job on growing the butterflies and releasing them into the environment!

  5. I'm so glad Mrs. White's class told me about their worms when they came to music class.
